We understand that this is a challenging and difficult time for everyone, with the Coronavirus pandemic creating an unprecedented set of circumstances that seems to evolve every day. Understandably, we have all been asked to play our part in keeping our communities safe.
Our priority at Golden Gate Holiday Centre, is to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our holiday home owners, holidaymakers, team members and the wider community by following Government advice and adhering to the guidelines and instructions.
Whilst there are early signs of lockdown rules easing in Wales, the Welsh government are not, as yet, permitting the reopening of holiday parks or allowing people to travel to second/holiday homes. So our park remains closed until these instructions change. We would like to assure you that we are working hard alongside our trade association and fellow park operators to lobby the Welsh Government for a clear date for the safe reopening of holiday parks. The lockdown measures for Wales are due to be reviewed at the end of this week. We will provide a further update to you as soon as we are able to.
We want to thank all of you for your cooperation over the past weeks, and for the patience you have shown during this unprecedented situation. We share in your disappointment that you are not able to enjoy your holiday home with us during this time and it’s understandable that you will have several questions, including the impact this situation has on your site fees.
Under the provision of your site licence agreement, your holiday home remains safely sited on the pitch and we continue to carry out daily maintenance tasks, as well as looking after the park’s infrastructure and common spaces. The upkeep of the park is extremely important to us all, as it will mean that we will be ready to open and welcome you back as soon as we are allowed to. Please be assured, we are continuing to keep your Holiday Home safe, with our security team continuing to patrol the park as part of the service we provide.
Like most businesses, we have many standing costs on an annual basis and the vast majority of these are fixed and therefore have not been eliminated by current circumstances. The site fees that we receive go towards many of these costs, as well as the services that are provided to you over the whole year; including the times when the site is closed. Significant investments have been made recently to the park facilities, with continued investment made each year to maintain and enhance your holiday experience.
While it must be noted that we are under no obligation to reimburse site fees due to this exceptional situation, our family recognises that it has been a challenging time for everyone and for some that may have brought financial difficulties too. The last few weeks have had an enormous impact on us as a business, so we really do understand and genuinely want to do all that we reasonably can to support you and show that we value your loyal custom. We want you and your families to continue to enjoy Golden Gate Holiday Centre for many years to come.
So, as a gesture of goodwill, we will be offering a partial credit to owners who have paid in full their 2020 site fees by 1st July 2020 and who have been unable to utilise their holiday home due to the government’s restrictions during the lockdown period. The credit will be added to owners accounts to be offset against the site fees for the 2021 season. We will send out further details of the credit once the park is able to reopen and we are able to fully appraise the effect of the closure on our business. As a further gesture of support, we commit to freeze the site fees for the 2021 season. We hope these two gestures will help ease the worries this period may have brought you.
