Great Things to do in North Wales with the Kids

Things to do in North Wales with the kids

You might think that there aren’t many things to do in North Wales with the kids, out of season. But you will be surprised!

With holiday lodges being used all year round, North Wales has stepped up its game in the tourist stakes. Here is our choice of activities that we know children enjoy with their parents.

Welsh Mountain Zoo, Colwyn Bay

Most children love seeing animals. But a trip to the Welsh Mountain Zoo is not only a delight, it’s also an educational experience for them. Rare and endangered species thrive here and they originate from all over the globe including the UK.

From Bactrian camels, meerkats and ring-tailed lemurs to Sumatran tigers and snow leopards, it’s a refreshing change to see them happy in their habitat.

There are adventure parks with play areas for both young and older kids as well as a variety of cafes strategically located around the zoo to keep their energy up.

Mountain and sea views are spectacular. If you haven’t been it is well worth a visit for a great family day out.  At £38.30 for the whole family it’s not expensive – click on Welsh Mountain Zoo for more details.

Greenwood Forest Park, Gwynedd

For the past six years, Greenwood Forest Park has been acclaimed as the best family attraction in North Wales. Peacocks, rabbits and donkeys are all at home here among other furry and feathered friends.

There are so many things to do in North Wales activity centres like this that kids are spoiled for choice. Plenty of rides including the Green Dragon Roller Coast that runs along a 250-metre course with a 360⁰ horizontal loop. The views across the forest from this ride are awe inspiring. There are also water chutes, moon karts, sledge runs and mesh walkways high up in the trees.  There are both indoor and outdoor activities so rainy days are not a problem.  Food and drink is available from several places dotted around the park and a number of picnic areas if you want to take your own food.

Zip World, Bangor

Of all things to do in North Wales, Zip World is a not to be missed adventure for kids. Bouncing in underground caverns and travelling at high speed along zip wires are activities guaranteed to give adults and children an adrenaline rush!

When the kids see the video below they will be begging to go!
