Spending Christmas in Your Static Caravan Holiday Home

Christmas is an ideal holiday period to get away with all the family if you own a static caravan holiday home. Many holiday parks are open all year round and if yours is one of them, you could be spending Christmas in your static caravan whilst enjoying spectacular views of the countryside or winter coastline.

Bear in mind that when you go away during holiday periods it’s really important to make sure your home is secure. To deter burglars leaving a light on is always a good idea and if you have a good relationship with your neighbours you could ask them to keep an eye on your property while you are away. If you’ve got anything of high value either financially or sentimentally take these items with you or leave them with someone trustworthy.

Take extra blankets of higher tog duvets

If your static caravan holiday home isn’t already equipped with higher tog duvets or extra blankets, take some with you. Even if you have central heating in your caravan it’s always wise to be prepared for any eventuality in winter. If the boiler breaks down you don’t want to be cold! It goes without saying that you’ll need your warmest winter woollies too.

Christmas decorations for your static caravan holiday home

There’s no reason why you can’t decorate your caravan with the same Christmas decorations you use at home except the tree will probably have to be smaller. But you can get some great small trees with lights already attached to just plug in (saves all that untangling of Christmas tree lights).
Avoid candles inside the caravan because they can be dangerous but a Christmas wreath attached to the outside of your caravan door will make it look very festive.

Christmas dinner

The modern static caravan holiday home has a fabulous kitchen so you can easily cook your Christmas dinner in it. However, depending on when you go it’s practical to cook the turkey at home and take it with you. This saves you time and the day and gives you more room in the oven for all the trimmings. Make certain it is cooked all the way through though because reheated turkey that is not cooked properly will make you ill.

An alternative to cooking Christmas dinner is to check out what the local hotels, restaurants and pubs are offering but if you intend to eat out make sure you book in advance. Pubs usually provide excellent value for money and great food, especially the ones out in the country.

Entertainment for all the family

If the holiday park has wifi you will be able to watch TV on your tablet or laptop but if you intend to watch your favourite Christmas programmes on your static caravan holiday home television check it’s got a good signal when you arrive. You don’t want to be fiddling around to get a picture on Christmas Day.

Despite all the electronic gadgetry, we have today, Christmas is a time for all the family to enjoy together so take some board games with you such as Scrabble or Monopoly. It will give everyone’s eyes a rest from screen work and people invariably have a lot of fun.

If you have young children you can hide the Christmas gifts in one of the caravan cupboards and then when the kids have gone to bed you can place them under the tree and don’t forget to leave something out for Santa and his reindeers!!!
